Donnington Grove was built for James Pettit Andrews by John Chute (master of The Vyne, Hampshire). Andrews was an academic and author of many archaeological papers and a history of England. The House is castellated, 3 bays by 3 stories, and is of blue brick. Circa 1785 a large Drawing Room in a Classical style was added to the north of the House.
